Damon braces

Damon self-ligating braces are a more modern alternative to traditional ‘train track’ braces. To ‘ligate’ means to bind or tie. Self-ligating braces do not require elastic or metal ties. Instead they use small metal clips to keep the wires in place.

At Southport Orthodontics, our orthodontic specialist is a certified user of the Damon System. Damon combines three key components, which when used together, deliver faster treatment, fewer appointments, greater comfort, and consistent high-quality results:

  • Damon passive self-ligating braces eliminate the need for elastic or metal ‘ties’. With Damon tie-less braces you experience treatment without tightening.
  • Light high-technology shape-memory wires move teeth faster and require fewer adjustment appointments.
  • The new clinically proven treatment approach aligns teeth and enhances facial aesthetics – usually without extractions.

Damon braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, which allows teeth to move more freely, quickly and comfortably.
